On 10 February 2010, the Council of Ministers gave the green light to the legislative decree on nuclear power.The decree – the government says – “is characterized by transparency and absolute respect for the safety of people and the environment. ” Construction works will start in 2013, nuclear power plants will produce electricity from 2020. “Yet, what about the old nuclear stations which are still to be dismantled? One of the most modern power plants such as the Olkiluoto one, in Finland, has already delayed the schedule and increased the costs, compared to the initial budget. Who knows the nuclear issue knows that the main problem is the extreme length of its own creation, timing of construction of power plants, waste storage time, time of disposal of hazardous substances, protection of the territory … Ten years will be sufficient to ensure this?
Il 10 febbraio 2010 il Consiglio dei Ministri ha dato il via libera al decreto legislativo sul nucleare.Il decreto – scrive il governo – «si caratterizza per la trasparenza e il rispetto assoluto della sicurezza delle persone e dell’ambiente». I lavori nei cantieri partiranno nel 2013; le centrali nucleari produrranno energia elettrica dal 2020».Ma che fine faranno quelle vecchie ancora da smantellare e su chi ricadranno i costi dei nuovi impianti? Il modello della modernissima centrale di Olkiluoto (Terza Generazione), in Finlandia, ha già subito ritardi sui tempi previsti e aumento dei costi, rispetto al budget iniziale.Chi conosce bene il tema del nucleare sa che il problema principale è proprio della estrema durata della sua realizzazione, tempi di costruzione delle centrali, tempi di stoccaggio delle scorie, tempi di smaltimento delle sostanze nocive, tutela del territorio… Dieci anni saranno sufficienti per garantirci tutto questo?
