Air of freedom. That’s what we breathe at the University of Tripoli, 120.000 students, many of whom fought on the front line alongside some professors at Bani Walid and Sirte, the last strongholds of Gaddafi regime to fall permanently.
The desire for change is tangible, even the walls of the university are covered with murals painted with vivid colors. In the Department of Science, stands out the most obvious one: a man breaks the chains of old Libya, screaming.
This reportage is the first document which tells what are the hopes and dreams of the first generation of students who will come out from Libyan universities after 40 years of dictatorship; in the images, the young protagonists of a new country, who shared their dreams with our photographer Luca Sola, through the interviews that he collected personally in the days of the capture and killing of Muammar Gaddafi.

Aria di libertà. Questo è quello che si respira presso l’Università di Tripoli, 120.000 studenti, molti dei quali hanno combattuto in prima linea a fianco di alcuni professori a Bani Walid e Sirte, ultime roccaforti del regime di Gheddafi a cadere definitivamente.
Il desiderio di cambiamento è tangibile, anche le pareti delle università sono ricoperte di murales dipinti con colori vivaci. Presso il Dipartimento di Scienze, il più evidente: un uomo che spezza le catene della vecchia Libia, urlando.
Questo reportage è il primo documento che racconta quali sono le speranze e i sogni della prima generazione di studenti che usciranno dagli atenei libici dopo 40 anni di dittatura; nelle immagini, i giovani protagonisti di un nuovo paese, che hanno condiviso i loro ideali con il nostro fotografo Luca Sola, attraverso le interviste che ha raccolto personalmente nei giorni della cattura e uccisione di Muammar Gheddafi.
