Gaza, Spring 2011: the peaceful weapon of information in Palestine gathers its mediatic power from The Net. The riots in Egypt and Tunisia and the contemporary spread and “leaking” of the staggering Palestinian Papers operate as a fuse; here too, in the youngest explodes the desire for a better future, with no internal divisions. The idea is not to topple a regime, but to create a single government of national unity, putting an end to the rift between Hamas and Fatah. Bloggers in Gaza, as Egyptian and Tunisian ones before, turn this desire into a reality with the demonstration of March 15, 2011 “End of Division “, which brings together various groups, including the GYBO (Gaza Youth Breaks Out). In what must have been a peaceful, non-politicized protest, though, Hamas brings its own flags, and the protesters rebel; the peaceful celebration turns into violent clashes, many youths are arrested, some beaten, an activist is stabbed. … Asma Al-Ghoul is one of the most famous blogger that we interviewed; during an interrogation of Hamas she is accused of being the leader of the revolt. “Our leader is facebook!” she says, “I am just a supporter, I use my blog as a place of dialogue and exchange among young people. ” But blogs and manifestations, with their quest for peace, are stopped by the sudden and bloody resumption of Israeli bombing in Gaza; the operation Scorching Summer has begun.

Gaza, primavera 2011: l’arma pacifica dell’informazione in Palestina, ha nella potenza mediatica della “rete” la sua forza.  Le rivolte in Egitto e in Tunisia contemporanee alla diffusione e al “leaking” degli sconcertanti Palestinian Papers, hanno fatto da miccia; nei più giovani sta esplodendo la volontà di un futuro migliore, senza più divisioni interne. Non si tratta di rovesciare un regime, ma di creare un unico governo di unità nazionale, lontano dalle spaccature tra  Hamas e Fatah.  I blogger di Gaza, come prima quelli tunisini e egiziani, tramutano questa spinta in realtà  con la nella manifestazione del 15 marzo 2011 “End of Division”,  alla quale partecipano vari gruppi tra i quali i GYBO (Gaza Youth Breaks Out). In quella che doveva essere però una protesta pacifica e non politicizzata, Hamas porta però con sé le proprie bandiere, e i manifestanti si ribellano; la festa pacifica si trasforma in duri scontri, molti giovani vengono arrestati, altri picchiati, un’attivista viene accoltellata…. “-Asma Al Ghoul, una delle blogger più famose, durante un interrogatorio di Hamas, viene accusata di essere il capo della rivolta. “Il nostro leader è facebook!”  ci racconta “ Io sono una semplice supporter, uso il mio blog come luogo di dialogo e scambio tra i giovani”. Ma i blog e le manifestazioni, con la loro ricerca di pace, vengono fermati dall’improvvisa e cruenta  ripresa dei bombardamenti israeliani su Gaza; l’operazione Scorching Summer è iniziata.
